6/27/06 - I know there are plenty of guys out there who will agree with me on this: there's something strangely appealing about a girl who could kick your ass. So close your eyes and imagine a whole swarm of roughneck, two-fisted, beer-drinkin', tougher-than-my-luck women-- your resulting mental picture would pale in comparison to the Brewcity Bruisers, Milwaukee's premiere all-female roller derby league. They recently contacted me to whip up a poster promoting their upcoming expo bout in exchange for sparing my life... see the results here.

So what else is new in this most recent of my sporadic string of website updates? Well, apart from the roller derby action, there are five other new pages in the good ol' Image Dump, including five Ramut Boxo Squad comic strips not found in the main gallery. Just click on that junkyard-lookin' picture to my immediate left to peruse the new stuff.

So I'm getting to that point again where I'm thinking about tearing down the whole site and rebuilding it from the ground up. Popup blockers are pretty popular these days, what with the completely stupid amount of online advertising that now makes up more than 96 percent of the entire Internet. I'm starting to think that having my site rely so heavily on popup windows might actually be turning away casual web surfers who might otherwise be interested in giving my online portfolio a quick once-over. A popup-free redesign might be in order in the coming months, depending on how industrious I feel.

But until then, please feel free to switch off your blocker and cruise around the site. You just might stumble on a surprise or two while you're at it. And as always, always, let me know what you think if you're so inclined. I'll be here.

9/14/05 - Three months have passed since my major site overhaul, and I've got a couple new things to show for it. There's six new additions to the Image Dump-- go check 'em out.

Something that occurred to me recently is that I don't have any wallpapers for download anywhere here on my site. Well, that's no longer a problem. Now there are links to properly-sized images at the bottom of a few of my pages... more specifically the fake comic cover, the X-Men spoof, the Jedi Academy loading screen, and Eddie Bourbon, Ninja to the Stars. Each one is also available at 480 x 272 resolution, the perfect size for a PSP. If anybody has a PlayStation Portable, lemme know how they look on the small screen.

Something else that's new: tastes like chicken shared a booth with Troma Entertainment at the WizardWorld comic convention this past month. Guess who else was there, signing autographs? Why, my old buddy Mick Foley. My fellow staffers made sure to get a picture of Mick holding an issue of the magazine, so I added that to the page with my illustration. Check it out here.

So feel free to poke around a bit on the site. You never know when I'm gonna hide something new on here unannounced, so keep your eyes peeled. And as always, I invite everybody to drop me a line anytime.

6/14/2005 - It's been over a year since my site went live, and I've been meaning to update things ever since. Problem was that, given the way I designed the site, I would've had to rebuild the entire damn thing from the ground up every time I wanted to add something new to one of the galleries. And since I really didn't want to do that, ever, the site has remained un-updated ever since. But I'd been promising an update sooner or later.

Just turns out that I went with "later". But it finally happened. The site looks the same for the most part, but each of the gallery pages has been completely redone with new stuff mixed in with some old favorites. All of my work is now accompanied by a caption explaining what the picture was for (and because more text increases the odds of Google bringing people here). My posts on the front page are now archived in this handy scrollable window. The links page has been redone in a way that allows space for future additions, since I have been known to make new friends on rare occasions.

But the big new thing that's been included for the sole purpose of saving me headaches in the future is the Image Dump. It's meant to be a completely no-frills page of thumbnails-- something that I can easily update with no hassle whatsoever. Whenever I feel like it, I can upload new pictures to the Dump, write a paragraph here on the front page pointing you to the new stuff, and go on about my day. And maybe I can update the gallery pages every couple of months with the new work, or bump some of the older images onto the Dump... we'll see how it goes.

Sure, I've still got a few bugs to work out and a few things left to do (the Image Dump isn't actually ready at the time of this writing), but I figured it was time to put the old site out to pasture.

11/10/2004 - The next print issue of tastes like chicken should be hitting newsstands in your neighborhood on December 1st (provided your neighborhood is in either NYC or Los Angeles... maybe Chicago, too, if we're lucky...), so make sure to run out and grab yourself one! And speaking of print... guess who made cover this time? Guess who got to got to spend a half-hour of his day chatting with Mick Foley?

Me. You were supposed to guess me.

And along with Mick, we've got some killer interviews with Tony Hawk, Mat Hoffman, Jon Spencer, and Chief Xcel. And that's in addition to our usual crop of stories, entertainment reviews, and comics... including my very own Eisner Award-wishing Ramut Boxo Squad. So check out some of my stuff while you're here, and drop me a line sometime. Cool?

9/3/2004 - Seems like I'm getting a bit more traffic here ever since I posted that Art Pack on jk2files.com. I only expected a few people to download it, but the damn thing took off like a rocket. It's crazy. That's so awesome that everybody digs it as much as they do. Which means that now more than ever, I need to actually update this site.

So of course now is when I have absolutely zero free time to do it. Sure, we wrapped up the last issue of tastes like chicken (which you might find in a store near you, especially if you're in New York or L.A.), but we're already waist-deep in the next one. So once that one gets sent to the printers, I might find a weekend to retool the ol' website.

So here's my cop-out temporary solution: click here (link removed-- page ain't there no mo'! 6/10/05) for a no-frills text menu of a couple new things.

7/1/2004 - I need to update this site sometime, considering that I'm beginning to accumulate a big stack of stuff that nobody's seen yet.

My duties with tastes like chicken have been kinda eating my time as of late, but as soon as the new print issue (which will be available in stores nationwide and beyond beginning August 1st) is wrapped, expect a big batch of new work to magically appear here, along with a few extra bells and whistles.

In the meantime, tell all your friends and relatives about this here site. You'll be glad you did. And if you've got any lucrative freelance gigs for me, drop me a line. Hell, write to me just to say "what up" if you want. I'll be here.

5/9/2004 - Oh, snap! I finally got the real version of the site up and running! It sure looks a hell of a lot prettier than just boring text on a white screen, doesn't it? Doesn't it? Damn straight.

So here's how it works: you click on one of the big panels on the left page, which opens a thumbnail gallery on the right page. Simple enough.

And hey, if you like what you see and want to hire me for some lucrative illustration project, or if you just want to say "Whaddup?", feel free to drop me a line anytime.
